Local Attractions:

Experience alpine village charm in the south of the Snowies, at Jindabyne, Thredbo, Perisher Valley and Khancoban. Jindabyne is home to the visitors centre for Kosciuszko National Park, the largest National Park in New South Wales. In Summer, enjoy some of the best views of the Snowies from the top of Mount Kosciuszko, accessible via Charlotte Pass and the Crackenback chairlift at Thredbo. In Winter, the region's resorts are a-buzz with snow sports fanatics. Year round activities on offer include mountain biking, kayaking, bushwalking and fishing.
To the north is the Tumut/Tumbarumba area. Tumut is the perfect base for exploring the Yarrangobilly thermal pools and limestone caves. Visit Blowering Dam to see the region's largest trout farm. For a drop of local vino, head to Tumbarumba which is establishing a good reputation as a winemaking region. Discover the fascinating history of the old gold town of Kiandra, and the famous fly-fishing town of Adaminaby is well worth a visit.

Nearby Talbingo, Batlow, Adelong and the highest town in Australia, Cabramurra, are brimming with spectacular natural beauty. You'll find everything from deep inland lakes and lush pastures to dense pine forest and snow-capped mountains.

Cooma is located around 50km north-east of Jindabyne. The area is characterised by pretty streets, highland plains and sparkling waterways and is steeped in history. Uncover the past in Nimmitabel and in Dalgety on the banks of the Snowy River. Anglers can try their luck in the streams of Bombala, also known as the Platypus capital of Australia.

Getting There:

Perisher Valley is a comfortable 6 hour drive from Sydney and just 2.5 hours away from Canberra. If you would rather leave your car at home, regular schedule flights operate into Cooma where taxi, hire car and coach connections can be made to Perisher Valley or Ski Tube access along the Alpine Way.
No over night car parking permitted in Perisher Valley in Winter.
Ski Tube can be caught from Bullocks Flat to Perisher Valley Ski Tube Terminal Oversnow transfers are available on standard arrival and departure days (Friday and Sunday Only) *Arrival Day - after 3:00 to 10pm (midnight on Fridays) * Departure Day - Transfers from 7am-10am every 30 minutes.

The Stables Resort is located approx 250mts to from the Skitube Terminal up Valhalla Road past 'The Man from Snowy River' Hotel. (Approx a 5-8 minute walk from the Skitube Terminal.)

Courtesy afternoon skiers shuttle operates daily from the Ski Tube Terminal between 3-5 pm every 30 mins.
